Description

Cockpit international series gauges are the only VDO gauges available in the USA to feature metric scales. Based on the original cockpit series, the cockpit international series temperature and pressure gauges feature both imperial and metric scales. Cockpit international series gauges feature angled black bezels and side-lit illumination. Black gauge faces are complimented by ISO standard symbols.

LED Lighting

Because each installation is different, sending units and LEDs are not included with the purchase of an individual gauge and must be purchased separately.

Which LED do I need?

This gauge includes a white mini wedge style light bulb. This gauge uses a different light bulb than all other VDO gauges. This mini bulb allows the crowded internals of this gauge to be lit, however limits LED lighting options. The only LED that can be used in this gauge is our mini wedge style LED. High intensity and perfect match LEDs cannot be used.

Mini wedge style LEDs are a great way to light a VDO EGT gauge. We have them available in 6 colors. Priced at $4 per LED, these LEDs provide an affordable and bright color change.

What is included in the wiring kit?

Shown to the right is a typical 42 Draft Designs VDO wiring kit. Each VDO gauge includes a wiring kit built specifically for that gauge. We use flexible 18 gauge automotive wire, heavy duty crimp terminals, and thin black zip-ties.

An EGT wiring kit includes two 4.5' lengths of lighting wire, two 6' lengths of power and ground wire, all necessary terminals, and zip-ties.

Recommended Electrical Accessories

We offer a variety of electrical accessories not included in the basic wiring kit. We have everything from crimpers to fuse boxes. For this gauge install we recommend scotchloks or T-taps to tap into existing dimmer switch wiring. We also recommend a mini inline fuse holder to protect your lighting circuit. A mini fuse add-a-circuit can be used to tap into a switched 12v power source. Browse our selection to learn more!

Electrical Tools & Accessories

Included Probe Kit

Unlike all other VDO gauges, this gauge includes the proper sender. The probe kit shown above is included. It consists of a 1/4" street probe, 10' length of low resistance thermocoupler wire, a 1/4" NPT adaptor, and a 1/4" NPT EGT bung. No other senders or related accessories are needed for this gauge.

Spin-Lok Mounting

This gauge uses VDO's spin-lok mounting system. In some gauge mounts these spin-lok nuts simply will not fit. For these applications we usually recommend a stud mounting kit. However, VDO does not make a stud mounting kit to fit this gauge. In applications where a stud mounting kit would normally be used, such as our VW mk4 triple gauge panels, this gauge must be installed in the center position.
