New Product! Mk6 Style
42 Draft Designs is proud to officially release our Mk6 GTI cat-backs! Although based on the Mk5 platform, the Mk6 presented some challenges. We gladly accepted, and the resulting cat-backs represent months of testing and R&D. We're beyond pleased and ready to offer our finished product to the MK6 market.
We started this project by confirming the fitment of our Mk5 FSI/TSI 3" downpipe on the Mk6 TSI. You can see our results here:
Mk5 vs. Mk6 Downpipe Fitment. The downpipe fit, so we moved on to our existing Mk5 cat-back. We bolted up the muffler section of our cat-back with success and moved on to design the tip section.
The rear end of the Mk6 poses two unique challenges. The first challenge is muffler fitment. There's simply no room to install a muffler after the rear wheels on a Mk6 GTI. Like the Mk5, we rely on a large muffler before the rear suspension. The second challenge is the tip fitment. The rear valance features contours we've never had to work with before. These contours easily overpower the tips. We experimented with a true assortment of tips and finally decided to build a custom size. Instead of asking for attention, our custom tips truly compliment the rear valance.
